The Lucca olives
at Poplar Hill were hand-harvested November 8,2007 and promptly delivered to a frantoio (olive
press) in Mill Valley. There the olives were organically pressed by a blade mill. The oil
was released in April, 2008.
Poplar Hill’s 2008 olive oil is a
perfect balance of fruit, pepper, and butter. With an aroma
of green apples, this release is a perfect finishing oil.
Drizzle atop soups, grilled vegetables, fish or poultry.
Use as a lively dressing for salad greens, as a rich splash
on warm artisan bread, or use for baking in place of butter.
Since only three-fourths of the olive trees
at Poplar Hill are at full maturity, our estate produces
less than 500 bottles, a very small quantity of exceptional
oil. The olives are organically grown, and certification
as a California organic farm is now in progress.
